food making - a big part of staying at the Hildibrand is all about the food!

 

Kaupfélagsbarinn

 

​​Kaupfélagsbarinn - Seafood Bistro and Grill. 

 

The Co-Op Bar is dedicated to the history of the building as a Co-Op shop,

and the long-standing tradition of fishing and farming in the area.

 

It is located on the main floor of Hildibrand Hotel and serves breakfast, lunch

and dinner.

 

Kaupfélagsbarinn offers a great variety of local seafood and wild game along

with more traditional bistro food - with our own twist!

 

Mjólkurstöðin

 

Located right next door to the Hotel, is what used to be the dairy plant for the

Co-Op shop.  Now it is where we handle and process all of our locally sourced fish and meats.  

 

Not only are we keen on using local ingredients we also have a passion for preserving the knowledge of the traditional methods of food handling and processing. To that end we involve the local elderly folks who work with us and teach us the old methods.  Call it our "playground" if you wish - it is where we enjoy cooking, preserving, experimenting with new ingredients and learning the old ways.

 

Guests are welcome to visit us at the Mjólkurstöðin and enjoy the fun!

 

Hildibrand Catering

 

​​We love our food so much that we want to take it around the world!

 

Hildibrand runs one of East Iceland's best-established catering and events services - all occasions and anywhere in the region.

 

We also offer catering with our trips and activities. You can enjoy our great food and services whether you are on a boat or on the top of a mountain. If you are going skiing or hiking, why not let us prepare you a picnic hamper?

 

Another part of our catering service is running the mobile food truck (named "Fjallkonan" - The Mountain Goddess) which makes serving fresh food possible wherever and whenever.
